About the Course
Overview:
These recurring classes are ideal for music enthusiasts looking to start or continue their journey in the world of Kannada Sugama Sangeetha which includes Bhavageethe (Poetic songs), Devotional songs, Janapada (Folk songs), Vachana and Ranga Geethe(Theatre music). Entry level foundation course and Intermediate courses available depending on students prior experience and music skills.

Topics covered:
- Introduction to different genres of Kannada Sugama Sangeetha
- Learning new songs from various genres of Sugama Sangeetha
- Singing the songs set in Tanpura and Metronome/iTabla
- Deep dive into pitch, rhythm, expression techniques and vocal dynamics to enhance singing skills
- Warmup and breathing exercises
- Basic Swara knowledge
- Octaves and Scales
- Breakdown of vocal dynamics & textures to learn expressions
- Deeper understanding of lyrics and composition of various songs
- Solo and group song projects on a regular basis.
- Assignments will be provided to assess student's understanding and learning abilities after each class.
Methodology:
Scaffolding and practical learning methodology of teaching will be adopted to break down the concepts to bite sized concepts for easy comprehension. Students will be prepared to perform in contests and shows with confidence. The course is designed to foster creativity by understanding and analyzing deeper meaning of the lyrics and composition. Students will be set up for success to not just learn the technicalities of Sugama Sangeetha but encouraged to come up with creative ways to improve their performance. A dedicated drive will be assigned for students to upload their practice recordings and feedback would be provided promptly.
Prerequisites:
Anyone who has an interest and passion to learn music and is above the age of 6 years. Students will be divided into batches based on their skill levels.

Thursdays : 5.35pm to 6.30pm EST
Batch size : 3 - 4
Pricing : $30 per class
Location: Virtual only
Prerequisite: Above the age of 5 years, no prior music learning experience necessary
Intermediate level
Wednesdays : 7.00pm to 7.55 pm EST
Batch size : 3 - 4
Pricing : $30 per class
Location: Virtual only
Prerequisite: Above the age of 14years, prior music learning experience is not necessary but preferred
